Jessica's Story
How COD helped her get there?
Jessica began her journey at College of the Desert in fall 2021 after high school but struggled to keep up with her classes while working and living on her own. After taking a year off, Jessica was ready to try again as a full-time student.
This time, grounded by organizations such as the Pride Center, Foster Youth, Black Student Success Center, and her work at Central Pantry, Jessica hopes to complete degrees in kinesiology and performing arts. She largely attributes her new-found confidence in her abilities to her increased involvement on campus and her professors.

What coursework is involved?
Jessica is double majoring which means that the CSU General Education (CSU GE) requirements or the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC), which are about 37-39 credits, apply to both majors simultaneously. This means that overlapping requirements for general education are not duplicated for the second degree. She needs to complete around 90 combined units to complete both degrees. View the Kinesiology AA-T degree requirements here and the Theatre Arts AA-T degree requirements here.
